Epoch
Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 September 2026
Epoch is a history timeline game, published by an independent individual developer. It requests no access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos. This policy describes what Epoch actually processes and why.
Anonymous profiles
When you first play, Epoch creates an anonymous profile for you: the server issues a random profile identifier and a matching credential. The credential is stored on your device, in the iOS Keychain, and your profile and game progress are stored on Epoch's server. No email address, password or name is required to play.
Sign in with Apple
You can optionally save your profile with Sign in with Apple. Epoch requests no name and no email address from Apple. When you link a profile, Epoch stores a privacy-preserving representation of your Apple account identifier — not the identifier itself — so it can recognise the linked Epoch profile when you restore it or delete it.
Gameplay and profile information
Your Epoch profile holds the game data needed to run Epoch: your display name, XP and level, rank and rating, placement status, Daily and Endless progress, streaks, awards, personal bests, match results and live game state, subscription entitlement status, and the fair-play and account-integrity state that keeps ranked play honest. This data belongs to your profile and is kept on Epoch's server so your progress survives reinstalling the app.
Display names and multiplayer
The display name you choose is the only thing you create in Epoch that other players can see. It is shown to the players in your matches, it is checked against naming rules, and a name that breaks the rules may be rejected or reset. Epoch has no chat, no voice, no image uploads and no private messages, so there is no message content to store.
Reports, blocks and moderation
You can report a player from a match using a fixed list of reasons — there is no free-text report — and you can block a player so ranked matchmaking will not pair you together again. A report records the reported name and the match it came from. Reports are kept for at most 90 days, whether or not they have been resolved. Blocks stay until you remove them or delete your profile.
Purchases and subscriptions
Epoch Infinite is sold by Apple as an in-app subscription. Epoch never sees your payment card details. Apple processes the purchase, and RevenueCat, Epoch's subscription management provider, records the resulting entitlement against the same random profile identifier described above. Epoch does not send RevenueCat your Apple identity, an email address or any advertising identifier.
Service providers
Epoch's online services run on Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects. Apple provides the App Store, Sign in with Apple and payment processing. RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements. As with any internet service, these providers transiently process the ordinary technical information needed to deliver a request — including your device's IP address — under their own privacy terms. Epoch's own application code does not store your IP address, device fingerprints or location.
Tracking and advertising
Epoch contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software. It does not track you across other apps or websites, does not build an advertising profile, and does not sell your data.
How Epoch uses information
Epoch uses the data above for exactly four things: running the game and your profile, running fair multiplayer, keeping players safe through name rules, reports and blocks, and providing what you have purchased.
Retention
Profile and game data is kept while it is needed to operate your profile — normally until you delete it. Blocks last until you remove them or delete your profile. Reports are deleted after at most 90 days. After a deletion, Epoch keeps a minimal technical record showing that the profile was deleted, so its old credential can never become active again; that record contains no gameplay history. Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase and transaction records under their own legal and accounting obligations — Epoch cannot delete records it does not control.
Deleting your profile
You can delete your Epoch profile from inside the app, in Settings. Deleting an anonymous profile removes your profile and game history from Epoch's server first; only then does the app clear its local data and start a fresh profile. For profiles linked with Sign in with Apple, Epoch asks you to confirm with a fresh Sign in with Apple authorization and then revokes that authorization with Apple — your Epoch data is deleted only after the revocation succeeds. If any step fails, nothing is deleted. After deletion your old history does not come back, and the same Apple account can later start a completely fresh profile.
Security
Traffic between the app and Epoch's servers is encrypted in transit. The profile credential is kept in the iOS Keychain on your device, and the identifiers Epoch stores for linking and blocking are one-way cryptographic representations rather than raw identities.
Children
Epoch is intended for players aged 13 and older. Epoch does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can change your display name, remove blocks, and delete your profile at any time from inside the app. For any other question or request about your data, write to the address below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with a new release of the app and the date at the top of this page will change with it.
